lampgenerator

parametric projection lamps

Print a lamp that projects your text on the wall.

A cylindrical shade with letters cut through it. A small spotlight sits inside and throws your message onto the wall around the lamp — sharp, readable and bigger than the lamp itself. Everything is generated from the text you type.

What it is

A generator for a projection lamp: a printed cylinder whose wall is pierced by the letters of your text. Light from a point source inside is shaped by those holes and paints the words on the wall. It is the classic “shadow lamp”, made parametric and print-ready.

How it works

  1. Type your text — every line can have its own size.
  2. Tune the shade, the light holder, the caps and tolerances.
  3. Preview it live in 3D, light on, exactly as it will look.
  4. Download one 3MF with all parts and print it.

What you need

A 3D printer and an IKEA KAPPLAKE LED spotlight (the cheap USB one). The generator builds the seat, the snap tabs and a press button for it, plus a snap-in bottom cap with a cable outlet. Mount it on the wall and switch it on.

Made to be printed

The wall is analysed for printability — disconnected islands are bridged, thin struts are reported, the shell is watertight, and every fitting has a configurable clearance. The output is a single multi-material 3MF: shade, front text, button and bottom cap, each as its own part.
